August 31, 2011

Freedom Is Not Free.

The Memorial won The Governor's Hometwon Award on November 29, 2012 and one of six finalists for The Governor's Cup Award.  A sign will be placed at the edge of town to signify this award.  Thank you to Mary Ann Vance, Bettie Sage, Carlene and Joe Venovich, Ken Harding and Rick Otey for making two presentations in Springfield.  Also thank you to Mayor Todd Bong for being present to accept the award on behalf of the Village of Tremont.

This site has been established to allow for more biographical information to be shared about the veterans whose stones are a part of the memorial.  You can email a biography to tremontveteransmemorial@yahoo.com.  You can now like us on Facebook.  Check it out at www.facebook.com/tremontveteransmemorial.

Upon finding a stone at the memorial, you will then be able to log onto this website using your smart phone or iPad to learn more information about that particular veteran.  As you read a biography about a particular veteran, you can click here and search for information from History Channel.com.

If you would like to purchase a stone for $100, you can get an application by clicking on the Application Tab on the menu and mailing it to the P.O. Box number listed on the application.

A very special "THANK YOU" to Steve Otey and Joe McGill of St. Louis for some of the more technical aspects of our website.
